Life Transitions

Major life events—such as the loss of a loved one, divorce, job changes, or a serious illness—can leave us feeling disoriented, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to move forward. Even positive transitions, like starting a new job, welcoming a baby, or moving to a new city, can bring stress and emotional strain. It’s normal to feel unsettled when life changes in ways you didn’t expect or aren’t sure how to manage.

Therapy provides a place to process these experiences, make sense of what you’re going through, and find ways to navigate change with support rather than alone. Together, we can explore the emotions that come with transition, identify what feels most challenging, and help you develop coping strategies that restore a sense of balance and stability.

Common life transitions I support clients with include:

  • Starting or adjusting to college or a new career

  • Marriage, parenthood, or becoming an “empty nester”

  • Breakups, separation, or divorce

  • Infidelity recovery

  • Retirement or career shifts

  • Relocation or financial stress

  • Living with illness, disability, or the aging process

  • Grieving the loss of a loved one

  • Exploring meaning, faith, sexuality, or gender identity

Sometimes life changes feel manageable, and other times they can feel like too much to carry on your own. If you’re struggling with a transition, therapy can offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space to talk openly, reflect, and find new ways to move forward.

If you’d like support navigating a change in your life, I’d be glad to connect with you!
